Beaches of Delaware

We have to spend some quality time on the beach at least twice a year.

On the 4th of July, to try new swimwearWe drove to the beaches of Delaware

Three girls, a boy and poodle JasmineWere staying in Dover, in hotel Sleep Inn

Bowers and Slaughter beaches in DelawareWere muddy and warm, but swimmers beware

Masses of dead horse-shoe crabs that stinkSand sharks circling near and jelly-fish stings

Vicious horse-flies and no life-guardsWe had it all, the whole nine yards

Rehoboth & Dewey on Atlantic shoreWaves stirring the sand and breaking with a roar

They stretch to horizon as far as you seeThe blue sky above the limitless sea

The Sun in zenith stands all day longScorching the skin for a tan lifelong

The sand packs the heat, like a hot plateBy the end of day you will lose some weight

We are back home, all tired and soreHey Delaware, we’ll come back for more
